Aki has had his fine jewelry business for 30 years, but he learned the craft from his father, while growing up in Iran. Once he got to the United States he tried medical school and engineering school, but neither gave him the pleasure of jewelry making.
Designing jewelry for Aki means carving, casting, making wax models, and using a wide range of materials, including cultured pearls, gemstones, silver, gold and platinum. He’s adept at challenging custom work, too. On a recent afternoon he helped a customer determine that an unusually-shaped ring could be transformed into earrings. This sweet, gentle soul puts his heart into his designs, easy to see in his one-of-a-kind rings, necklaces and earrings and price points for every shopper.
